Yarn faults have sizes from +100% and larger and length of 1mm and longer.

Their frequency is always referred to in terms of number per 1,00,000 meters of yarn.

 Classification of Yarn faults

1) Basic yarn faults or Mass/Diameter irregularities in yarn
Divided into 23 classes in Classimate system
2)Foreighn matter faults Contamination : Polypropylene , Hair , Colour fibres

The neps are measured on the base length of 1mm.
Thin and Thick places are usually in the range of 1.5 times the fibre length
Determined by number per 1000 m or yd of yarn.

Imperfections/km

          Thin Places : -30%, -40%, -50%, -60%
            Thick Places : +35%, +50%, +75%, +100%
